Accounting Specialist

Job Overview:  Our Accounting Specialist will be responsible for ensuring compliance with local Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), navigating fiscal and tax specificities, assisting in invoice verification processes, supporting the local team in coding invoices, creating documentation of fixed assets in accordance with local requirements, and facilitating seamless communication and reporting. Senior Accounting Specialist will be the main contact for the local tax authorities, key contact for external tax compliance provider and will have an important role in the auditing process.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Compliance and Regulation: Ensure adherence to local GAAP, tax regulations, and fiscal requirements, staying abreast of any changes or updates in the regulatory landscape. Participate in tax reporting process and act as key contact to the external service provider, tax authorities and auditors. Ensure the proper archiving process as per local requirement.
2. Invoice Verification: Assist in invoice checking processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies and local regulations. Provide support to the local team in coding invoices correctly for accounting purposes. Coordinate the year end balance confirmation process with vendors.
3. Asset Accounting: Create and maintain documentation of fixed assets, ensuring compliance with local requirements and maintaining accurate records throughout the asset lifecycle. Coordinate the local yearly fixed assets counting process.
4. Reporting and Communication: Senior Accounting Specialist is reporting to FC team leader and is a part of Financial Control team in Nokian Tyres Finance Competence Center.
5. Team Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide financial expertise and support in various initiatives, ensuring alignment with financial objectives and compliance requirements.
6. Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process optimization and efficiency enhancements within the accounting function, implementing best practices to streamline workflows and improve productivity.
7. Training and Development: Provide guidance and training to local team members and on accounting principles, procedures, and systems, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
• Extensive experience (3+ years) in accounting and finance roles, with a strong understanding of local GAAP, tax regulations, and fiscal requirements in Romania.
• Proven experience in invoice verification, asset accounting, and financial reporting within a manufacturing or industrial setting.
• Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems, with advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and make informed recommendations.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Fluency in English language.
