Country Manager, Spain & Portugal

We are currently looking for an experienced Country Manager for Spain and Portugal markets.

Your Role and Responsibilities:

As the Country Manager, you will be responsible for developing integrated strategic sales plans and hold full top-line and bottom-line responsibility for all accounts. You will be leading, developing, directing, and implementing channel and customer plans to maximize sales and profits in the area. Top-line and bottom-line responsibility for both Spain and Portugal.

Your principal accountabilities, duties, and responsibilities will include:

  • Ensure the delivery of revenue and profit goals by directing the development and implementation of sales (customer & channel) plans to meet those objectives.
  • Develop the organizational structure and optimize systems and procedures required to grow an effective organization.
  • Develop the go-to-market strategy, providing Nokian Tyres partnerships with key customers.
  • Develop integrated strategic sales plan devised to establish Nokian Tyres as a core brand with Spain & Portugal based tire retailers while maintaining strong relationships with independent tire dealers and retailers.
  • Contribute to the development, prioritization and alignment of the company’s strategic sales plans and initiatives, influencing and assimilating all constituents’ (marketing, finance, supply chain, customers, distributors, etc.) strategic plans and tactical priorities. 
  • Seamlessly execute brand, channel, and customer/consumer initiatives to achieve growth and profit goals. 
  • Quickly assess strengths and weaknesses within the existing sales team and provide leadership for the development of sales objectives and business strategies to guide the organization to secure profitable growth.
  • Play lead role in coordinating activity across departments; collaborate with the marketing department on new product opportunities.  Work with key retail partners to identify unmet consumer needs.
  • Develop, gain commitment to, and guide the implementation of, strategic sales and channel plans and ensure the integration of those plans throughout the organization, shaping channel strategy, sales fundamentals, and merchandising plans, as well as identifying emerging opportunities and integrated execution plans. 
  • Routinely evaluate departmental spending for effectiveness and efficiency, identifying opportunities to enhance productivity of spending and executional excellence in the field.
  • Deploy detailed management of key KPI’s, including leadership of a sales pipeline process.
  • Design a winning team and create an environment that gives the individual/team the responsibility and authority to achieve goals, as well as holding them accountable for attainment of those goals.  
  • Develop, lead and coach talent; implement a fair and equitable performance management system. 

To thrive in this role, you should have the following Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

  • 15+ years of tire retail / consumer durable goods sales experience with a progressive company known for its sales discipline and winning results.  Automotive after-market industry experience is a benefit. 
  • A general manager’s horizontal perspective with well-rounded business acumen.
  • Demonstrated outstanding leadership of a customer development organization of significant scale. 
  • Experience managing multiple retailers and multiple channels (wholesale distribution, retail, independent dealers, online etc.).
  • Has served as the “voice of the customer” in the strategic planning process, as well as in the annual business planning process and joint business planning process.
  • Functioning familiarity and professional relationships with major tire/automotive centers and/or retailers.   Experience customer executive dialogue.
  • Must have a detailed sales management “systems” orientation with an emphasis on driving analytics and KPI management.
  • Spanish and English knowledge is a must. Portuguese is a benefit.
  • Bachelor’s degree, M.B.A. a plus.
